Family Launches Foundation in honour of late Smart Apejoye,

A Foundation in honour and memory of a public- spirited Nigerian: Smart Oluwole Apejoye has been launched.



The Foundation, Smart Oluwole Apejoye Foundation, SMOAF, was launched to cater for the needs of the less- privileged people in the society through an Endowment Fund

The Endowment Fund, focussing on funding educational needs of vulnerable children, was put in place by the wife and children of the late icon to keep his good deeds going, even after his death.

The late philanthropist, public Affairs analyst and community leader
passed on to glory on 15th April, 2022.

A memorial lecture was also held in his honour. The lecture, which held at Bobby’s Bar and Hotel, Ebute – Iga, Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, on Saturday 15th April, 2023, was attended by family and friends of the deceased.

While unveiling the Foundation, daughter of the deceased, Olamide Apejoye, said: “The Foundation will focus on supporting less privileged students to further their education, through yearly endowment funds; offer support to vulnerable individuals through grants and gifts; and contribute to nation- building social commentary and active political involvement.”

In the same vein, Mrs Idowu Oluwole-Apejoye, wife of the deceased unveiled the first set of beneficiaries including two students from Pacelli School for the Blind, Surulere, Lagos.

Speaking at the occasion on the topic: Today’s Youth and Challenges of Good Governance’ Barrister Jide Ologun admonished the younger generation to be serious about what they want their future to be like and never settle for less

He also advised them to be active citizens in nation building, as the deceased was in his lifetime.

He described the late Apejoye as a kind and loving man, respectfui trustworthy, emotionally intelligent and good communicator.

In her own lecture, Pastor Mrs. Olanike Rotimi-Andu, who spoke on ‘Education as a tool of molding a better Society’ advised the students to believe in themselves and always stay focused.
