Sharia Law Is Not For Non-Muslims- Sultan Of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has stated that Sharia Law is meant for Muslims alone and not for non-Muslims in the Northern states where Sharia law operates.
Newsonline reports that the Sarudauna, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar, stated this while addressing corps members for Batch B Stream II, and National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, officials that paid him a visit in his palace o
The Sultan told the corps members that nobody will mandate them to wear hijab for females nor to obey Islamic laws, since they are not Muslims.
“In Sokoto, Sharia law is only binding on Muslims, nobody will force you to wear Hijab or force you to obey Islamic laws if you are not a Muslim,” he stated.
Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar also told the corps members to be role models to schools they would be posted to have a good impact on their students.
“If you are posted to schools, impact the lives of the students, make them better than you met them,” he added.
The leader of the Muslim faithful also ensured the corps members that though there is insecurity in the country they will be protected.
“If you have a problem at the place of your primary assignment or where you are posted to, contact the district head over there; they are your guardians in the community,’’ he noted.
On his part, the NYSC, Sokoto State Coordinator, Alhaji Muhammad Nakamba, said the corps members are exceptional in terms of discipline and obedience to camp rules and regulations.
